Nillumbik Recycling Centre set to reopen

Nillumbik’s Recycling Centre is reopening to the public, following the easing of Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions.

From Monday 25 October, the centre at 290 Yan Yean Road in Plenty will revert to its normal operating hours of 8am-4pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The centre is closed this weekend.

Importantly, the reopening of the Recycling Centre will allow Nillumbik residents to dispose of green waste as they prepare their properties for the summer bushfire season. Residents can make use of one of their free green waste vouchers included on their rates notice.

In other reopening news, the mini-golf course at Yarrambat Park Golf Course will reopen from Saturday 23 October. Bookings are essential for those wanting a hit at Goanna Golf, and golfers aged 16 and over must show proof they are fully vaccinated. The golf course itself is already open for booked visits.

The Diamond Creek Outdoor Pool also reopened on Friday 22 October for up to 50 patrons. Swimmers 16 and over must also be fully vaccinated and show their vaccination certificate to enter.

Outdoor training for community sport makes a welcome return, although competition is still a little way off. Change rooms at pavilions remain closed.

Our Eltham and Panton Hill Playhouses, which are already open for children of authorised workers and other exempt families, will open for all children whose parents/carers are fully vaccinated from Friday 22 October.

Edendale Community Environment Farm remains closed to visitors at this time. We realise this will be disappointing to many in our community who have been looking forward to paying our much-loved animals a visit.

We will reopen as soon as the appropriate measures are in place to keep our community and farm staff safe. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and we will provide updates as more information comes to hand.

As always, our Customer Service team in our call centre are available to answer any of your queries on 9433 3111. Many items of Council business can be conducted on our website.
