Nimbin’s water restrictions lifted due to rain

Water restrictions in Nimbin have been lifted, thanks to the recent heavy rains.

Rous County Council has also announced that water restrictions across the rest of the Lismore Government Area have been lifted.

Lismore City Council’s Director of Infrastructure Peter Jeuken said the water capacity of Nimbin’s DE Williams Dam was now 108% with strong waterflow in Mulgum Creek that feeds the Dam.

“Council would like to thank the Nimbin community who adhered to the tough water restrictions and helped to secure the village’s water supply,” he said.

“During the recent Level 3 restrictions, the community reduced their consumption and met reduction targets that greatly assisted Council with managing water supply issues.

“While the lifting of restrictions is great news, I think the recent long dry spell is a reminder of the need to be water wise and consider our daily water use on an ongoing basis.”
