Nine people arrested as part of investigation into Sale assault

Nine people connected to the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) have been arrested as part of a Taskforce Echo investigation into an assault at a licensed premises in Sale last month.

Ten warrants were executed on 9 September with assistance from Southern Metro Regional Crime Squad, Eastern Region Crime Squad, Frankston Crime Investigation Unit, Manningham Crime Investigation Unit, Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit, Wellington Crime Investigation Unit, East Gippsland Crime Investigation Unit, Croydon Divisional response Unit, Vehicle Crime squad and Taskforce VIPER.

Those warrants took place at nine residential addresses in Safety Beach, Carrum Downs, Doncaster east, Lynbrook, Ringwood, Selby, Metung and Sale (2), as well as the Finks OMCG clubhouse in Cranbourne West.

Police arrested nine men including the following:

  • A 34-year-old Safety Beach man;
  • A 35-year-old Carrum Downs man;
  • A 24-year-old Doncaster East man;
  • A 29-year-old Lynbrook man;
  • A 23-year-old Blackburn North man;
  • A 37-year-old Ringwood man;
  • A 35-year-old Selby man;
  • A 29-year-old Metung man; and a
  • A 25-year-old Sale man.

All nine were subsequently interviewed by police.

The Safety Beach man, Carrum Downs man and Lynbrook man have all been charged with intentionally cause injury and affray.

The Doncaster East man has been charged with affray, public display of prohibited insignia, possess imitation firearms, possess prohibited weapons and possess steroids.

The Sale man has been charged with affray.

All five men have been bailed to appear at Sale Magistrates’ Court on 9 February, 2027.

The other four men have been released pending further enquiries.

Police seized a range of items from the addresses during the warrants, including two gel blaster assault rifles, two gel blaster handguns, prohibited weapons and steroids found at the Doncaster East property.

The arrests form part of an investigation into an incident at a licensed premises on York Street, Sale on 15 August.

Police will allege that the group of men approached five males about 5.15pm and began harassing them.

This led to an affray where several people were injured, with one of the victims sustaining a fractured jaw.

The investigation remains ongoing.
