No excuse for abuse – Operation Fair Play, NSW

Police are warning the community that domestic violence (DV) will not be tolerated, as they commence an operation targeting DV offences across Western Region.

Officers throughout the region will commence Operation Fair Play 2021 on Sunday (26 September 2021) until Saturday 9 October 2021.

In NSW, police respond to more than 140,000 incidents of domestic and family violence per year. Women and children in NSW are statistically almost 40 per cent more likely to become victims.

Police will be tasked with compliance checks on Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVO) and serving outstanding warrants on all domestic violence offenders.

Western Region Sponsor for Domestic Violence, Superintendent Steve Laksa, said there is no excuse for abuse.

“Police will be out and about with a focus on ADVO compliance checks and enforcement to maximise victim safety,” said Superintendent Laska.

“The community can assist to reduce the harm caused to families by contacting police if they see or hear domestic violence or abuse.”
