Chief Minister Natasha Fyles is calling on Territory businesses who showcase Territory-made on a global scale to nominate for the Chief Minister’s Northern Territory Export Awards.

The awards were recently launched by Minister for Northern Australia and Trade, Nicole Manison, to recognise and celebrate the successes, innovation and business resilience of Territory exporters.

It is important to recognise export businesses and showcase the work they are doing to grow the Territory’s economy, create jobs for Territorians and attract investment in areas such as:

• Advanced technologies;

• Agribusiness, food and beverages;

• Creative industries;

• E-commerce;

• Emerging Exporter;

• International education and training;

• International health;

• Manufacturing and advanced materials;

• Professional services;

• Regional Exporter;

• Resources and energy;

• Small business;

• Sustainability.

An overall Exporter of the Year is selected from the winners of the above categories.

The NT winners of each category progress as finalists to the Australian Export Awards.

International trade is an important economic driver that contributed $12.1 billion to the economy last year and this will continue to grow.

Quotes attributable to Chief Minister, Natasha Fyles:

“It was incredible to see a Territory business, Monsoon Aquatics, on the national stage taking out the Australian Exporter of the Year Award in 2021.

“Despite the challenges of COVID, Monsoon Aquatics had significant growth in its export sales in 2021 and this was thoroughly deserved recognition.

“I encourage those who know or are an exceptional Territory export business to nominate, and I thank the Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory for coordinating the awards.”

Quotes attributable to Minister for Northern Australia and Trade, Nicole Manison:

“Trade supports one in five jobs in Australia and is essential to growing our economy in the Territory to $40 billion by 2030.

“Our new International Engagement Strategy sets an ambitious but achievable path to seeing exported services rebound to $800 million by 2026 and for goods exports to be 15% higher than forecast in that timeframe.

“There are some incredible businesses in the Territory who are doing great things in export markets, which in turn delivers great things for the economy. I encourage them to get a nomination in for the Chief Minister’s Northern Territory Export Awards.”
