Nominations closing soon for Sunshine Coast Community Strategy Leadership Group

Sunshine Coast Council is inviting expressions of interest from community representatives to become a part of the Sunshine Coast Community Strategy Leadership Group, and nominations close on Friday, February 28.

A community heart and a strategic mind are two of the essential ingredients for those who want to play a leadership role in driving the implementation of council’s Sunshine Coast Community Strategy 2019-2041.

The Leadership Group will help to lead and guide the delivery of the Strategy’s objectives and activities and also track and report on progress and the impacts of implemented actions.

The aim is for the Leadership Group to consist of members that reflect our community values and aspirations, including subject matter experts, community representatives, council and other government representatives.

Group members will work with council to engage other levels of government, community and business organisations in implementation activities and provide expert advice to support the achievement of the Strategy’s objectives.

The group will help council to track and promote the benefits and impacts of the Community Strategy and provide advice to council on associated policies, plans, programs and services.

Membership is open to:

  • any community representative who lives on the Sunshine Coast;
  • representatives of government, community groups, organisations, agencies and service providers who have a focus on provision of human and community services;
  • specialists and academics on social planning, community development and engagement.

Members will be asked to participate voluntarily and be available to meet on a monthly basis, or as determined by the Leadership Group.
