Nominations are now open for the 2026 Dubbo Regional Sports Awards, which recognise the outstanding achievements and talents of sportspeople from Dubbo and Wellington.
The Dubbo Regional Sports Awards are a joint initiative of the Dubbo Regional Sports Council, Dubbo Regional Council and Federal Member of Parkes, Jamie Chaffey.
“There’s a wealth of sporting talent in Dubbo and Wellington,” Mr Chaffey said.
“The Dubbo Regional Sports Awards is an event where the community can come together to recognise some of those outstanding athletes, sporting teams and organisations. It takes a whole community effort to make these sports happen and to encourage people of all ages to take part in both team and individual sports.
“Sport brings people together and is the basis for great friendships as well as fostering talent – and some friendly rivalry along the way,” Mr Chaffey said.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said last year over 45 athletes were recognised in various sports for their achievements at State or National level.
“We are now calling for nominations for this year’s Dubbo Regional Sports Awards,” Clr Black said.
“The awards are a great opportunity to recognise both individuals and teams in our community who have excelled in their chosen sporting field.
“Members of the sporting community are encouraged to nominate individuals and teams from their association or club that meet the criteria for the awards,” Clr Black said.
Nominations are open for three different categories:
- Individual or Team Achievements: such as national or state representation of your association as a player, coach, referee, umpire, or official. This may include NSW Country / NSW State / National Competition success or high-level single performance such as Australian or State record.
- Individual Contribution to Sport: including coaches, referees, umpires and administrators with a minimum of five years of service.
- Community Contribution to Sport: by an organisation, media organisation, or sponsor to a particular sporting event, facility, or continuous support over a minimum of five years.
The presentation of Dubbo Regional Sports Awards will be held on Friday 27 November 2026.
The Dubbo Regional Sports Awards are sponsored by Dubbo RSL Club and the Dubbo Photo News.
