Nominations open for Kingston’s Woman of the Year Awards

Do you know a woman who has made a significant contribution to community, industry or society?

The City of Kingston is seeking nominations for the 2020 Woman of the Year Awards.

Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley said the Awards were back following a very successful inaugural year.

“We were overwhelmed with the positive response from our community with over 25 outstanding women nominated,” Cr Oxley said.

“The Awards will return in 2020 and we’re once again seeking nominations to celebrate women making a positive difference in our community.”

Inaugural Kingston Woman of the Year winner Emma Gierschick said she was honoured to have won in 2019 for her work in advocacy for family violence and disabilities.

“Whatever your background or whatever culture you represent, I strongly encourage you to nominate women who you believe are making an outstanding achievement or contribution in their local community,” said Ms Gierschick.

Nominations are now open and close on Sunday 12 January.

Cr Oxley said she was looking forward to announcing the winner at Kingston’s International Women’s Day event on Friday 6 March 2020.

“Nominees should be leaders in their field, who inspire others and make a difference to our community through their exceptional professional or personal achievements.”
