Nominations opening soon for Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards

Nominations for the 14th annual Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards will open on Monday 16 January 2023.

The awards are an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers who contribute their time and energy for the good of our community. Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said this year the awards will continue to acknowledge the way in which the community helps one another in times of need.

“The Volunteer Recognition Awards are an important night to thank and celebrate the amazing people who help out across the region,” he said.

“Our region has been through a lot over the past few years and there are plenty of community volunteers who stepped up and helped out in whatever way they could. Now is the perfect time to recognise these people and say thank you.”

Nominations are open to people whose volunteering occurred within the Greater Shepparton Local Government Area. The four award categories are:

  • Young Volunteer: 12 to 25 years of age.
  • Adult Volunteer: 26 years of age and over.
  • Volunteer Team: A group of two or more people.
  • Long Serving Volunteer: 15 years or more service.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to celebrate at the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony, held during National Volunteer Week in May 2023.

“Every one of us will know of individuals or groups of people who volunteer and make a difference in the local community,” Cr Sali said.

“Volunteers keep our sports and community clubs running, help us maintain our social connections and provide essential services such as food. Now is your opportunity to acknowledge the impact those volunteers make within the community and nominate them for an award.”
