The Andrews Labor Government is making sure students at non-government schools have access to world class facilities through our new school building fund.
Low-fee Catholic and independent schools in Victoria are set to shine through the Government’s $450 million Building Fund for Non-Government Schools – helping upgrade and build facilities – to provide students with a modern and tailored learning environment.
Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins said the program would allow the Catholic and the independent sector to increase capacity or upgrade facilities at existing schools – delivering greater learning opportunities as campuses grow and develop.
Schools can apply for grants of between $50,000 and $3.6 million to expand or upgrade existing facilities, with grants of up to $6 million available for building new schools or new campuses.
This fund ensures that hard-working families get the best and safest environments for their children in the non-government school sector, and that upgrades and expansions of school facilities can happen sooner.
This funding boost will support independent and non-government schools to create learning spaces that give teachers up-to-date facilities that create a positive learning environment for students.
This commitment builds on the two previous Non-Government Schools Capital Fund programs, which have delivered a $520 million investment since 2016 to increase capacity and improve buildings for schools in the sector.
In the past nine years, we have invested $14.9 billion to build new schools and delivered more than 1940 school upgrades across the state – giving all Victorian students access to quality learning facilities no matter where they live.
