The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out essential maintenance and improvement works this weekend along the New South Wales North Coast Network between Telarah and Acacia Ridge in Queensland.

To enable the works the line will be closed from 9am Saturday 9 March to Sunday 10 March.

Crews will be working right along the 800km train line, investing more than 5,000 work hours in critical maintenance. This includes track resurfacing, culvert replacement and turnout replacement and retimbering.

Other work includes vegetation control at multiple locations as well as track component replacements.

ARTC is reminding motorists to remain vigilant and to slow down at level crossings during the shutdown, with heavy machinery operating in and around the rail line.

NSW TrainLink services will be replaced by coaches. Customers are encouraged to check transportnsw.info for travel advice. Information on road closures and alternative routes can be found at livetraffic.com
