Northern suburbs attempt robbery arrest, South Australia

A man has been arrested after attempting to rob a hotel and a service station in the northern suburbs early tonight.

Just after 7pm on Tuesday 26 February police were called to a hotel on Hampstead Road at Clearview after reports a man had threatened staff with a knife. He had in his possession a bag of ice he had taken from the freezer. He demanded money from the till and the ice.

Staff refused and the man left empty handed.

Police will allege the man left the hotel in a vehicle and drove towards a nearby service station on Hampstead Road at Broadview. The man again threatened staff with a knife and demanded money and a bag of ice. The man left the service station empty handed.

Checks on the vehicle resulted in police locating the man at a Clearview address. He was arrested without incident.

The 42-year-old man from St Marys was charged with numerous offences including two counts of attempt robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

The man was refused bail and will appear in court on Wednesday 27 February.
