Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions Appointed

The Northern Territory Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Lloyd Babb SC to the position of Director of Public Prosecutions for the Northern Territory commencing on 14 March 2022.

Mr Babb SC is the immediate past Director of Public Prosecutions for NSW, and has a career spanning almost three decades as a barrister. As well as experience at the private Bar, Mr Babb SC has extensive experience in a number of other senior Government legal roles including NSW Crown Advocate and Director of the NSW Criminal Law Review Division. Mr Babb SC has worked across the spectrum of criminal law, also having been a Public Defender in NSW.

Mr Babb SC recently completed a significant criminal trial here in the NT appearing for the DPP in successfully prosecuting a multiple murder matter.

Mr Babb SC takes over from Mr Nicholas Papas QC who has acted in the DPP role since 12 July 2021.
