Notice – disruption to traffic – Wamoon Urban streets

Leeton Shire Council

Notice is hereby given under Roads Act 1993 for temporary disruptions to traffic along the following roads in Wamoon:

Roads:

  • BRISBANE ST – between Crowes Road and Road End
  • OXLEY ROAD – between Crowes Road and Phillip Street
  • BOURKE ROAD – between Henry Lawson Drive and Oxley Road

Reason: Initial works will begin with shoulder widening on these above-mentioned roads in preparation for full road rehabilitation following Wamoon Sewerage Scheme commissioning. This preparatory works will aid in access for the required heavy construction vehicles and provide strengthened shoulders for the road rehabilitation works. During this initial works several drainage culverts will also be replaced as part of asset renewal works.

Duration: Work on these Wamoon Urban roads is expected to commence Early March with the construction continuing in this area for another 5 weeks.

Detours: During this time these sections of roadways will be traffic control managed and may be reduced to single lane access during construction hours.

Benefits: The wider shoulders on these roads will enhance safety for all road-users by providing a firm surface for residents and the heavy vehicles working on the exciting new sewerage scheme installation. In addition, the new drainage culvert installations will aid in the removal of rainwater from the table drains and reduce water ponding and ongoing maintenance. And, when the sewerage scheme is installed, these roads will receive a full rehabilitation upgrade.
