NPSP is ‘Raising Bar’ for Adelaide

The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is bringing global award winning event series, Raising the Bar, to Adelaide for the second year in a row. This follows the undeniable success of last year’s event, which saw many talks being sold out.

On Tuesday 13 August, 10 venues across NPSP will be transformed into spaces for learning and discussion. There will be 20 insightful talks led by experts from South Australian universities. The 20 different topics include: how creativity is used for good and evil, the impact of technology on our privacy and whether our protein choices can save the planet.

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Mayor, Robert Bria said: “Raising the Bar Adelaide is helping make education part of the fabric of everyday life. It’s informal learning that takes place in a relaxed setting and gives people an opportunity to engage with experts face-to-face, which, given how much of our time is now spent online, is quite refreshing.

“Last year’s event was hugely successful and we had some great feedback. It’s clear that people love this form of learning. We’re delighted to bring Raising the Bar to the city for the second year.”

Raising the Bar is a global event series that began in New York. It aims to make education a part of popular culture in cities across the world, and has taken place in major cities including Hong Kong, London and Sydney.

Later this year, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters will also bring a new series, Raising the Bar Entrepreneurship, in a global first. This series will take place on Tuesday 1 October, and will feature talks targeted at entrepreneurs and those interested in starting a business. The City will be the first place in the world to host the series.
