NPWS appealing for information on $800 sign stolen from Hat Head National Park

National Parks and Wildlife Service is appealing for information from the public after the theft of an $800 sign from Hat Head National Park early last week.

NPWS Hastings Macleay Area Manager Shane Robinson said the sign, which was located on Hungry Road near the Hat Head Sewage Treatment Plant, had only been installed by the Service a fortnight ago.

“We are confused and extremely disappointed that someone would go to the effort of bringing an angle grinder to Hat Head National Park to steal a NPWS sign.

“We still have many national parks in the region in desperate need of repair works following last summer’s bushfires. It is very disappointing that money must now be spent on replacing this sign.

“NPWS are working with the local police to investigate this matter.
