NPWS Hazard Reduction Burn In Morton National Park |

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is undertaking a large hazard reduction burn in the Shoalhaven Region within Morton National Park, tomorrow, Saturday 25 April.

Fire crews will be undertaking the 1,680 hectares burn, approximately 15 kilometres north of Nerriga, in the vicinity of Tolwong and Touga roads.

The aim of this burn is to reduce the spread of bushfire within the park and increase protection for neighbours and the surrounding community.

Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and follow any safety signs and directions from fire crews as smoke may impact the area.

NPWS, along with other agencies, has numerous prescribed burns planned across NSW when conditions allow.

For their safety, people must not enter closed areas while the operations are underway.

Roads and trails will be reopened once the areas are assessed as safe. Visitors must check NPWS Alerts for up-to-date information on closures.
