NSW households request to switch

NSW households have identified more than $52.5 million in savings from their energy bill after using the Energy Switch comparison tool on the Service NSW website.

Launched in late 2018, Energy Switch independently compares the plans of all NSW household electricity and gas providers and helps begin the switch to a different plan when requested.

So far more than 15,000 households have requested a switch in energy providers to save an average identified $481 in household electricity and $130 in household gas prices.

Energy Switch was launched by Service NSW after research found 70 per cent of NSW households pay too much for electricity, particularly customers who haven’t switched for more than 12 months.

The comparison tool is just one of 70 NSW Government Cost of Living measures helping to ease financial pressures for households which includes free car registration for regular toll users, cheaper hospital car parking, and the FuelCheck app.

More than $1.5 billion has been saved through the Cost of Living program since it was launched through Service NSW in July 2018.

Energy Switch and the other Cost of Living measures can be accessed in-person at selected Service NSW Centres and online at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/campaign/cost-living.
