NSW International Student Awards open for nomination

Deputy Premier

Outstanding international students, education providers and organisations are being encouraged to submit their nominations for the 2021 NSW International Student Awards.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Industry and Trade John Barilaro said the awards are a crucial part of recognising the contribution of international students while the pandemic continues to challenge the international education sector.

“Study NSW’s annual awards are an opportunity to showcase the resilience and positive influence of international students and the education sector,” Mr Barilaro said.

“In 2020, over 260,000 international students studied with NSW education providers, bringing their talents and experiences into the classroom, in person and online.

“We should all be reminded that while the pandemic has certainly been a challenge to us all, we still have about 115,000 international students in NSW right now – actively learning, engaging and contributing a great deal to the NSW community.”

Last year, international students and organisations that started charities, served as school leaders, championed campus multiculturalism, and supported students with food in the wake of COVID-19 were among the award winners.

Two groups of awards will be presented:

  • The NSW International Student of the Year Awards – recognising the contributions of individual students in higher education, vocational education and training, English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students, and high school, to the international student and broader NSW community.
  • The NSW International Student Community Engagement Awards – recognising the contribution of education providers, businesses and community groups that support international students to connect with the community.

Nominations will close on Friday, 2 July 2021. Nominate a recipient for the 2021 NSW International Student Awards.
