The next major step in the transformation of Fairfield Hospital is underway, with construction commencing on a new multi-storey car park as part of the $630 million Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment.
Located at the southern end of the hospital, the multi-storey car park will provide more than 450 spaces and include pedestrian connections to the existing hospital as well as the adjacent Braeside Hospital.
The car park’s façade has been designed to complement the existing hospital building and celebrate the natural surrounds of the hospital campus. Rooftop solar panels will also support sustainable operation.
Hindmarsh Construction is engaged to deliver the multi-storey car park, following a competitive tender process and planning approval.
To minimise parking impacts on the hospital campus while the multi-storey car park construction is in progress, the expansion of on-ground car parking areas is now complete and being utilised by patients, visitors and staff.
Construction of the new car park and associated works will continue throughout 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2027.
The Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment will also deliver a five-storey clinical services building, which will seamlessly connect with the existing hospital through a welcoming new main entry and convenient drop-off area.
Planning and design are continuing to progress for the new building, which is proposed to include:
- A new and expanded Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit
- Medical Imaging
- Operating theatres
- Inpatient wards.
Some existing departments will also be relocated or refurbished as part of the project. The final design for the redevelopment will be confirmed as planning for the project progresses.

The Minns Labor Government is investing in more beds and more hospitals, delivering 32 new or upgraded hospitals across the state, including in Western Sydney:
- $910 million for the new Rouse Hill Hospital, which includes a $120 million contribution from the Commonwealth Government – which the Liberals promised at three elections and failed to deliver;
