The Illawarra community is being given a first look at the design for the new Unanderra Ambulance Station, with the unveiling of a new artist impression of the modern facility.
The new ambulance station will be built on Waverley Drive, Unanderra and is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program to bolster frontline emergency services.
The modern, purpose-built station will provide local paramedics with contemporary facilities and infrastructure designed to support growing demand for ambulance services across the region.
The artist’s impression shows the station’s façade and marks an important milestone in the project’s development following the announcement of the site late last year.
NSW Ambulance identified Unanderra as a high-priority location for a new station through a comprehensive service planning process that analysed Triple Zero (000) demand and ambulance response requirements across the Illawarra region.
Health Infrastructure and NSW Ambulance are working closely throughout planning and design to ensure the facility is purpose built and well-positioned to support the future healthcare needs of the community.
Planning and design work will continue this year, and the community will continue to be kept informed as the project progresses to construction.
The NSW Government’s $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program is delivering 30 new ambulance stations and supporting infrastructure across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter and Illawarra regions over the coming years.
This new station will complement other ambulance infrastructure investments across the region, including the planned Moss Vale and Warilla ambulance stations and recently completed Fairy Meadow Ambulance Station.
This is part of the Minns Labor Government’s plan to rebuild our frontline workforce including by delivering a historic pay increase for our paramedics and recruiting an additional 500 paramedics in rural and regional areas.
