NSW police appeal after carjacking at Armidale

Police are appealing for information after an alleged carjacking in the state’s Northern Tablelands.

About 1.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 July 2020), an unknown man approached a 81-year-old woman as she was getting out of her car on Holmes Avenue, Armidale.

The man demanded the woman’s vehicle allowing her to take her dogs and phone before fleeing the location.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers attached to New England Police District were notified of the incident and commenced an investigation.

The vehicle was later found by police abandoned on Long Swamp Road, Armidale.

The man is described as being of tanned complexion in his mid teens, 165cms tall, and of a slim build. He was wearing cream shorts, light shirt with a light coloured jumper tied around his neck with dark shoes and a hat with writing on it.

Police are appealing for public assistance and urge anyone with information or any motorists who may have dash cam vision and were in the area to contact Broken Hill Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
