NSW police appeal after fiery crash in Greenacre

Police are appealing for public assistance after two men escaped serious injury when a car they were travelling in caught alight after a crash in Greenacre overnight.

Around 9.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 20 May 2020), emergency services were called to Punchbowl Road in Greenacre following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attended to find a silver Mazda Sedan alight after crashing into a parked truck.

The driver and passenger – both aged 19 – were able to free themselves from the car before the fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the driver for a minor laceration to his face and the passenger for a possible broken shoulder, fractured ribs and a suspected broken nose.

The men were taken to St George Hospital for further treatment.

Punchbowl, Wangee and Juno roads were closed for a number of hours.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dash cam or CCTV footage.
