NSW police appeal after pedestrian hit by two vehicles near Wagga Wagga

Police are appealing for public information and dashcam footage after a pedestrian was hit by two vehicles near Wagga Wagga this morning.

About 2am (Saturday 31 October 2020), emergency services were called to Fernleigh Road, Ashmont, following reports a 20-year-old woman had been struck by two vehicles while walking down the street.

Police were told the woman was initially struck by a Nissan Patrol, causing her to fall to the ground.

The 19-year-old male driver and his passenger stopped to render assistance, before a second vehicle struck the woman and failed to stop.

The woman suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The Nissan Patrol was seized for further examination and the driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

As investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers are also seeking any dashcam footage from Fernleigh Road and surrounding streets between 1.30am and 3am today.
