NSW police appeal after second World War gravesite set on fire at Wentworth Falls

Police are appealing for information after a gravesite was set on fire in the Blue Mountains yesterday.

About 8pm (Saturday 30 November 2019), emergency services were called to a cemetery on the Great Western Highway, Wentworth Falls, following reports of a fire.

Police have been told two people, in company of a dog, were seen putting sticks and leaves on top of the grave and set it alight. They fled the scene on foot before emergency services arrived.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended to ensure the fire was extinguished.

Officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
