NSW police are responding to double fatal crash near Lithgow

Two people have died following a crash near Lithgow this afternoon.

About 1.30pm (Wednesday 23 June 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a white sedan and a truck carrying LP gas bottles on The Great Western Highway, Mount Lambie.

Two occupants from the white sedan died at the scene. They are yet to be formally identified.

The male truck driver was uninjured. He has been taken to Lithgow Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The Great Western Highway is closed in both directions and motorist are urged to avoid the area.

An investigation into the crash is underway and anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident is urged to call Lithgow Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
