NSW police arrest four after child abduction

Four people have been arrested following the abduction of a girl in Sydney’s north-west today.

About 12.30pm (Friday 21 January 2022), officers from Riverstone Police Area Command were called to outside a property on Midlands Terrace, Stanhope Gardens, after reports of an abduction.

Police were told a four-year-old girl was outside the location with her dad when a Honda CRV stopped nearby, and an unknown man and woman got out.

The woman grabbed the girl and put her in the car while the man kept the girl’s father distracted. The vehicle then fled the scene.

A police operation commenced and with assistance from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and PolAir, the vehicle was located travelling north on the M1 motorway.

The vehicle was stopped by police at Kinta Drive, Beresfield, about 2.20pm and two women – one of whom is known to the girl – and two men were arrested.

The girl was located in the vehicle uninjured. Local police are making arrangements to reunite the girl with her father.

They were taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station to assist with inquiries.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
