A man has been arrested following investigations into a fatal crash in Baulkham Hills yesterday.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of Windsor Road and the M2 just after 7pm (Saturday 2 March 2019), after a Holden Commodore exiting the M2 hit six stationary vehicles, before the Holden Commodore driver fled the scene.

The passengers in a Holden Captiva, a 36-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl, were taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

A third passenger, a 12-year-old boy, could not be revived and died at the scene.

The Captiva driver, a 38-year-old man, was taken to hospital for assessment.

The driver of a Toyota Corolla, a 65-year-old man, and his passenger, a 58-year-old woman, were taken to Westmead Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The occupants of the other four vehicles were uninjured and were taken to Westmead Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Officers from The Hills Police Area Command conducted a search operation to locate the driver of the Holden Commodore, with assistance from officers attached to Ryde, Ku-ring Gai and Parramatta Police Area Commands, Traffic and Highway Patrol, the Dog Unit and Polair.
