NSW police car hit, ATM stolen in ram raid at Werris Creek

Police are appealing for information after an ATM was stolen in a ram raid at a registered club in the state’s north overnight.

Just before 2.30am (Monday 14 October 2019), police were called to a registered club on Henry Street, Werris Creek, about 50km south-east of Tamworth, after reports a ram raid was in progress.

An officer from Oxley Police District attended and the police vehicle was struck by a Holden Rodeo utility with the officer discharging a number of shots.

The ute fled, followed by police before being dumped on The Gap Road and the occupants fled into nearby bushland. Despite a search, they were unable to be located.

The ute was seized and will be forensically examined.

A crime scene was established after inquiries revealed an ATM had been stolen from the club and officers from Oxley Police District have commenced an investigation.
