NSW police charge five after investigation into aggravated break-ins at Tamworth

Two teenage boys and three adults will face court following an investigation into a number of break and enter and steal offences in the state’s north west.

Shortly after 4.30am yesterday (Thursday 26 November 2020), officers attached to Oxley Police District responded to reports of a break-in at a home on Tuscany Boulevard, North Tamworth.

Police were told two people – one armed with a screwdriver – were challenged by the resident before running from the scene.

Shortly after 6am, police arrested an 18-year-old man following a foot pursuit.

About 6.45am, police responded to reports of a second aggravated break-in at a home on Manilla Road, Oxley Vale.

Police were told the occupant, an 83-year woman, was threatened with a knife and her wallet was stolen.

Following a patrol of the area, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy after a short foot pursuit.

It is alleged the boy was in possession of property stolen from the Manilla Road offence.

Shortly before 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday 26 November 2020), police arrested a 15-year-old boy at a home on Cossa Street, Coledale.

During the arrest, police will allege a 20-year-old woman spat on an officer.

She was also arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where she was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty.

She was bail refused and will appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 27 November 2020)

The teens were taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged.

The 18-year-old man was charged with aggravated break and enter in company – steal, and enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner.

He was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 27 November 2020).

The 16-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter, robbery armed with offensive weapon, aggravated break and enter in company – steal, possess prohibited drug, and enter enclosed land without lawful excuse.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter, armed robbery, aggravated break and enter – steal, and two counts of enter enclosed land without lawful excuse.

The boys, aged 15 and 16, were bail refused to appear before a children’s court today (Friday 27 November 2020).

Following inquiries, police arrested a woman, aged 32, who has been charged with being an accessory after the fact of aggravated break and enter and steal in company.

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Monday 11 January 2021.
