NSW police charge five over drug supply in Tamworth area

Several people have been charged following search warrants in the Tamworth area targeting drug supply.

Investigators from Oxley Police District Target Action Group, with assistance from the Western Region Enforcement Squad, initiated Strike Force Heyward in July 2019 to investigate the supply of MDMA and cocaine in licensed premises in Tamworth.

Following extensive investigations, police yesterday (Thursday 5 December 2019) conducted a vehicle stop and, after a search of the car, located 20g of MDMA and an amount of cash. Three men, aged 23, 19 and 22, were arrested.

Three search warrants were subsequently executed at properties in Muswellbrook and the Tamworth area. A number of items were seized including 488 grams of cannabis, four capsules and two tablets of MDMA, as well as an amount of cash and a baton. Two men, aged 31 and 24, were arrested.

All five men were taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The 23-year-old Tamworth man was charged with large commercial drug supply, recruit U/16 to supply commercial quantity, ongoing drug supply and knowingly direct activities of criminal group. He was bail refused and is due to appear before Muswellbrook Local Court today (Friday 6 December 2019).

The 19-year-old Westdale man was charged with participate criminal group, owner or occupier knowingly allow premises to be used as drug premises. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Monday 6 January 2020.

The 22-year-old Muswellbrook man was charged with deal with proceeds of crime, possess ammunition w/o holding license, possess prohibited weapon (x2). He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Muswellbrook Local Court on Monday 16 December 2019.

The 31-year-old East Tamworth man was charged with supply prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, possess drug (x2) and possess prohibited weapon. He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Monday 6 January 2020.

The 24-year-old Tamworth man was charged with supply prohibited drug (x2). He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Monday 6 January 2019.
