NSW police charge four teens after pursuit in Sydney’s west

Four teenagers will appear in court today charged following a pursuit with police in a stolen vehicle in Sydney’s west overnight.

Just after midnight (Thursday 25 August 2022), officers attached to the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad attempted to stop an Audi SQ7 travelling in excess of the 60km/h speed limit on Luxford Road, Hassel Grove.

The Audi – reportedly stolen from a home in Balgowlah Heights on Tuesday (23 August 2022) – failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated, travelling along the M7 before being terminated due to safety concerns.

Police performing speed enforcement duties on the M2 at Baulkham Hills detected the Audi travelling at 153km/h in a signposted 100km/h zone.

A second pursuit was initiated travelling through Pennant Hills before the Audi collided with a semi-trailer at the intersection of Pennant Hills Road and the M2.

The Audi continued along the M2 where the pursuit was terminated and PolAir monitored the vehicle before it was seen to stop on Sedgman Crescent, Shalvey.

The passengers fled into a nearby home while the driver was seen get on an unregistered trailbike and speed off.

The passengers – two aged 18 and a 15-year-old – were arrested while the motorcycle travelled along Sedgman Crescent before crashing into a fence at the intersection of Emerson Street.

The rider, aged 19, fled and was arrested in the backyard of a nearby home.

They were all taken to Blacktown Police Station where the 19-year-old was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, not give particulars to other driver, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, possess prohibited drug, and motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45 km/h – Lidar. An outstanding warrant was also executed.

The three others were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and breach of bail.

They were all refused bail, with three appearing at Blacktown Local Court while the 15-year-old will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court today (Thursday 25 August 2022).
