NSW police charge man after assaulting officers

A man will face court today charged after allegedly assaulting police officer’s in Sydney’s south west overnight.

Just before 10.30pm (Sunday 20 September 2020), officers from Camden Police Area Command attended a home on Rosella Circuit, Gregory Hills, following reports of a domestic incident.

Police spoke with the occupants, a 51-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, who were uninjured before approaching a 51-year-old man in the front room of the home.

As officers attempted to speak to the man, he became aggressive and allegedly punched the senior constable and constable in the head.

A taser was deployed, and after a short struggle, the man was arrested. He was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Narellan Police Station.

The man was charged with common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), assault officer in execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Monday 21 September 2020).

The two officers were assessed at the scene after sustaining minor bruising and swelling.
