NSW police charge man after attempted murder investigation

A man has been charged following an investigation into the attempted murder of a man in Sydney’s south earlier this year.

About 4am on Saturday 11 January 2020, a 24-year-old man suffering stab wounds arrived at St George Hospital in a critical condition.

Inquiries indicate the man had been stabbed multiple times at a unit complex in Bay Street, Brighton Le Sands, and drove himself to hospital.

Officers from St George Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives established Strike Force Alawai and after extensive inquiries, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Burwood Police Station about 3pm today (Monday 6 April 2020).

A short time later, investigators executed a search warrant at a unit on Hill Road, Wentworth Point, where they seized a number of items, including methylamphetamine, scales and cash.

The man was charged with wound with intent to murder, indictable drug supply, and deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 7 April 2020).
