NSW police charge man after burning down granny flat at Lennox Head

A man has been charged with intimidation and property offences after a home was destroyed by fire at Lennox Head yesterday.

About 6.50am (Tuesday 16 July 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Ross Lane, Lennox Head, after a 25-year-old woman woke to find a granny flat engulfed in flames.

The blaze was extinguished by the NSW Rural Fire Service and an investigation was launched.

The woman later noticed damage to her vehicle which was parked nearby.

About 9.40am, police attended a separate home on Ross Lane, Lennox Head, where they arrested a 29-year-old man.

He was taken to Ballina Police Station and charged with:

· Common assault

· Stalking/intimidation (x2)

· Use carriage service to threaten to kill

· Damage property with intent to endanger life

· Damage property by fire (x2)

· Damage property

· Use carriage service to menace or harass (x2)

It’s alleged the pair are known to each other.

He’s been refused bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Wednesday 24 July 2019.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
