NSW police charge man after child approach at Randwick

A man has been charged after allegedly making inappropriate comments to a child on a bus at Randwick earlier this week.

About 2.30pm (Wednesday 25 November 2020), a 13-year-old girl was travelling on a bus from Bondi Junction to Maroubra, when a man boarded the bus and sat behind her.

Police were told the man made struck up a conversation with the girl, before allegedly making inappropriate comments towards her.

The girl was also allegedly touched by the man when she left the bus.

She told her parents when she arrived home; they contacted officers from South Sydney Police Area Command and an investigation began.

Following inquiries, Eastern Beaches detectives arrested a 29-year-old man at a home on Banks Avenue in Pagewood.

The man was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity.

He has been refused bail to attend Waverley Local Court today (Friday 27 November 2020).
