NSW police charge man after cyclist dies after crash

A man has been charged after a cyclist died after being hit by a car on the Central Coast yesterday.

Just after 2.30pm (Friday 17 September 2021), emergency services were called to Empire Bay Drive at Kincumber South, following reports a cyclist travelling northbound had been hit by a passing car.

Police commenced CPR on the 68-year-old male cyclist, before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene.

The 29-year-old male driver of a Holden Commodore was uninjured and taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Upon his release, he was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police District, together with the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, the driver of the Holden was charged with dangerous driving occ death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).

The Wyoming man was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Wednesday 8 December 2021.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
