NSW police charge man after disseminating child abuse material in state’s west

A man has appeared in court after allegedly disseminating child abuse material in the state’s west.

Earlier this month, detectives from Barrier Police District commenced an investigation after receiving reports child abuse material was allegedly being disseminated online through a number of usernames on social media applications.

The alleged offences occurred from January 2021 to March 2022.

Following extensive inquiries, about 8.40am yesterday (Thursday 10 March 2022), police executed a search warrant at a home near Mildura – on the NSW/Victorian border – where a number of items, including computers and electronic devices, were seized.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the premises and taken to Dareton Police Station, where he was charged with four counts of disseminate child abuse material.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Broken Hill Local Court on the same date, where he was granted conditional bail, to reappear at Wentworth Local Court on 5 April 2022.
