NSW police charge man after drug detection at correctional centre at Wellington

A man has been charged after allegedly being found in possession of drugs at a correctional centre in the state’s Orana region.

About 10am on Saturday (30 November 2019), the 48-year-old man visited a correctional centre at Wellington when he was stopped by a Correctives Services NSW Dog Handler after a positive indication.

It is alleged the man was in possession of more than 13 grams of methylamphetamine and 41 Buprenophine strips.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District attended and arrested the man who was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug – small quantity, supply prohibited drug – more than indictable quantity, bring prohibited drug into place of detention, and possess prohibited drug (x2).

He was bail refused and appeared before Dubbo Local Court on Sunday (1 December 2019) where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 21 January 2020.
