NSW police charge man after fatal crash at Cowra

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in the state’s central west last year.

About 3.05pm (Sunday 15 September 2019), emergency services were called to Darbys Falls Road, Cowra, following reports a car had crashed into a tree and rolled onto its roof.

The front passenger, a 17-year-old male, died at the scene.

The driver and an 18-year-old man in the back seat were ejected from the vehicle and a 17-year-old girl was trapped in the vehicle for a period of time.

Following investigations by the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, the 18-year-old driver presented to Cowra Police Station today (Friday 28 February 2020) and was charged with manslaughter, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death and two counts of negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His license was suspended and he was granted strict conditional bail.

He is due to appear before Cowra Local Court on Wednesday 8 April 2020.
