NSW police charge man after fatal crash at Picton

A man has been charged after a person died in a single-vehicle crash at Picton.

Emergency services were called to Picton Road, near the intersection of Maldon Bridge Road, about 4.45am (Sunday 3 April 2022), after reports an SUV left the road and rolled.

The male passenger of the vehicle died on scene and is yet to be formally identified.

The male driver was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital for further assessment and mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were assisted at the scene by Fire and Rescue NSW.

Police established a crime scene and – with the assistance of specialist police – commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, the 23-year-old driver was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death- speed >45 over limit, dangerous driving occasioning death-drive speed dangerous, dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).

He was refused bail and will appear before Moss Vale Local Court on Monday 4 April 2022.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
