NSW police charge man after guns stolen at Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged following an investigation into stolen firearms in the state’s south west.

In August 2019, officers attached to the Wagga Wagga Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Kirrange to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs and possession of stolen firearms in the Wagga Wagga area.

Shortly after 10am yesterday (Tuesday 24 September 2019), officers executed a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapon Prohibition Order (WPO) at a home on Oura Road, Wagga Wagga.

Officers seized three unregistered firearms, ammunition, drugs, fireworks and property alleged to be stolen.

A 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with 19 offences, including possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, acquire firearm (subject to prohibition order), goods suspected stolen, and handle explosive/precursor without licence.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Wednesday 25 September 2019).
