NSW police charge man after inquiries into Bass Hill public place shooting

Police have charged a man following a public place shooting at Bass Hill at the weekend.

About 9.50pm on Sunday (26 December 2021), police were called to Baden Avenue, Bass Hill, following reports of shots fired.

Police were told two men had a verbal argument at the location, before one man fired a shot into the air and left the area in a white vehicle.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and conducted an extensive canvass of the area.

An investigation was subsequently launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attended a home at Baden Avenue, Bass Hill, about 10.30pm yesterday (Monday 27 December 2021).

A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with possess unloaded firearm public place, acquire pistol – subject to firearms prohibition order and fire firearm in or near public place.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Tuesday 28 December 2021).

Investigations are continuing.
