NSW police charge man after investigation into armed robbery at Kingsgrove jewellery store

A man has been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into an armed robbery of a jewellery store in Sydney’s south earlier this year.

About 12.30pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020, police were called a jewellery store on Brocklehurst Lane at Kingsgrove, following reports of an armed robbery.

Inquiries revealed that three men, armed with a crowbar and hammer, exited a vehicle on Brocklehurst Lane, entered the store and restrained an employee.

The men smashed several glass display cabinets and stole jewellery – including rings, watches and necklaces – valued at about $180,000 before leaving the area in a vehicle.

A member of the public notified police and went to the assist the employee, who was not physically injured during the incident.

Initial inquiries were conducted by St George Police Area Command, before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Lense.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives, with assistance from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor, executed a search warrant at a home at Bexley North about 8.30am today (Tuesday 28 July 2020).

During the search, officers seized two replica firearms, ammunition, documentation and steroids.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Hurstville Police Station, where he was charged with accessory after the fact robbery armed/in company and tamper with evidence with intent to mislead judicial tribunal.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 28 July 2020), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Tuesday 4 August 2020.
