NSW police charge man after investigation into public place shooting at Dubbo

A man has been charged in relation to a public place shooting in the state’s Orana Region this week.

About 11.30pm Monday (17 August 2020), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District responded to reports of shots fired at a home on Rivergum Place, Dubbo.

Police were told four people – allegedly armed with knives, swords and a firearm – attended and spoke with the occupant, a 26-year-old man, before a shot was fired at the home.

Officers attended and commenced an investigation into the matter which is being treated as a targeted incident.

No one was injured.

About 2.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 August 2020), a 20-year-old man was arrested at Dubbo Police Station in relation to the incident.

He was charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, and breach of bail conditions.

The man was bail refused at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 20 August 2020) and will reappear before the same court on Thursday 15 October 2020.

Investigations continue.
