NSW police charge man after investigation into separate stabbings at Campbelltown

A man has faced court today charged following an investigation into two separate stabbings in the Sydney’s south-west in 2019 and 2020.

In the first incident, about 6.30pm on Monday 4 March 2019, police were notified after a man presented to the Campbelltown Hospital with stab wounds to his hand, chest and ear.

He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were told he was injured after being robbed and attacked with a machete at a home on Lochinver Place, St Andrews, the day before (Sunday 3 March 2019).

In a second incident, about 1.15am on Monday 31 August 2020, emergency services were called to a home on Julian Way at Claymore, and found a man suffering stab wounds to his chest and hands.

The man told police he was injured after being robbed in the street of two mobile phones and a watch.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics in a stable condition.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established separate strike force investigations to investigate the incidents.

Following extensive investigations, detectives attached to Strike Force Gibbergunyah and Strike Force Havannah arrested a 32-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station about 1pm yesterday (Wednesday 24 February 2021).

He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, cause wounding to person with intent to murder, aggravated robbery with wounding cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Following further inquiries, about 9.30am today (Thursday 25 February 2021), police executed a search warrant at a home on Hilder Way, Claymore.

Four mobile phones were seized, along with an electronic stun device.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Campbelltown Local Court today, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 7 April 2021.
