NSW police charge man after investigations into assault and break, enter and steal in Tamworth

Officers have charged one man, and continue to search for another, as they continue their inquiries into two separate robberies in Tamworth yesterday.

Police will allege two men entered a home on Dowell Avenue, and threatened a 21-year-old man while demanding cash.

The two men allegedly stole a wallet and cash before fleeing the scene.

The incident was reported to officers at Oxley Police District and an investigation was commenced.

Officers attended a home on Flemming Crescent yesterday (Monday 1 July 2019), where they arrested an 18-year-old man allegedly found hiding under a bed.

A search of the man allegedly located a sum of cash – believed to be stolen.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Tuesday 2 July 2019).

Meanwhile officers continue their inquiries into the robbery of an 81-year-old man in a motorhome on the corner of Brisbane Street and Out Street about 7.20pm (Sunday 30 June 2019).

Investigators have been told a male entered the passenger door of the motorhome and demanded the man’s wallet, while kicking him and threatening him with a knife.

The man opened the driver-side door and fell out of his seat, and the unknown man ran off in a southerly direction along Out Street.

The older man was shaken but not injured.

Following inquiries into both incidents, police believe a Silver Mitsubishi Lancer with NSW registration CP78ZS, may be involved and are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward.
