NSW police charge man after paramedic assaulted

A man has been charged after NSW Ambulance paramedics were assaulted at Surry Hills overnight.

About 4.15am (Saturday 25 July 2020), NSW Ambulance were called to a unit on Pelican Street to treat a 27-year-old man.

While being escorted to an ambulance, it’s alleged the man attempted to remove a female paramedic’s face mask and punched a male paramedic in the face.

He suffered minor injuries.

The man was restrained with the assistance of NSW police before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital under police guard.

About 9am (Saturday 25 July 2020), the man was conveyed back to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He will appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday 25 July 2020.
