A man has been charged over the alleged serious assault of another man at a COVID-19 testing clinic in Sydney’s west earlier this week.
About 2.45pm on Tuesday (14 September 2021), a 55-year-old man attended a drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic at Everley Road, Auburn, where he became involved in a verbal dispute with an 18-year-old man.
The older man was allegedly pulled from his vehicle, before being punched and kneed repeatedly by the younger man, who then drove from the clinic.
The injured man was taken to Auburn Hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured arm. He has since been released.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, and a public appeal for information, officers executed a search warrant at a home at Merrylands about 2.40pm yesterday (Thursday 16 September 2021).
During the search, officers seized a number of items relevant to the investigation.
An 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and negligent driving.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 17 September 2021).
