NSW police charge man after stabbing

A man has been charged after allegedly stabbing another man at Wiley Park overnight.

About 7.30pm (Tuesday 11 May 2021), a 30-year-old man attended Canterbury Hospital suffering a stab wound to his abdomen.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended, and detectives commenced an investigation.

A short time later, a crime scene was established at a house on Kathleen Avenue, Lakemba.

Following further inquiries, police attended a house in Melrose Avenue, Wiley Park, and arrested a 20-year-old man. A second crime scene was also established.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with reckless wounding (DV).

The Wiley Park man was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 12 May 2021).

The injured man has been transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The men are known to each other.
